I agree with Cesar: Kun dived the Atleti on to the score sheet, but Atletico was clearly the better side on the night. Deserved victory, and Atletico are somehow (amazingly) in a CL qualifying spot. Crazy world. Congratulations.

Actually, Valencia had 57% possesion and Atletico had 43%

But Valencia only had 3 shots, 1 on target, while Atletico had 19 shots, 11 on target.

Even though we lost, Cesar was the man of the match. 10 saves. The one handed save from the Forlan shot that was deflected by Albiol was the save of the season for Valencia. Miraculous stuff from the veteran. Word is he will get an extension for next year. All signs point to Renan starting next year, but Cesar has been good…

Yeah, “terrible” isn’t really the word. The effort was indeed tremendous, especially poor Ujfalusi who did well to push up but couldn’t get some good crosses in. But damn did we do well to shut down the Valencia attack.

And yes, Aguero was booked for diving. And it was deserved.

It was, Al. It was probably the best atmosphere I’ve ever been in at a football game, and that’s saying something as I’ve been to a few Ligue 1 games (never go), and about 10-15 Serie A games. Awesome. Atletico fans are the best in Spain.

I don’t think it was a terrible performance, but far from a shining one. The defense was iffy but kept a clean sheet and kept Valencia from very many clear-cut chances. Atletico created plenty of chances but as you said, lacked a lot of cynicism in front of goal. Cesar was tremendous. Some props to Leo Franco, didn’t have much to do but he made a crucial save.

Did Aguero get booked for diving? It was interesting to see the argument between him and Cesar, but there definitely seemed like there was contact when he was carded, maybe he exaggerated, I couldn’t really tell.

It was a terrible performance but we won, so it doesn’t matter. WTF at those one-on-ones by Simao and Forlan. But we definitely had way more possession.

Alessio, I was pleased to see the crowd singing and jumping again. Was the atmosphere better than the Villarreal game? I’d imagine it would be
