Atletico wins Ciudad de Vigo Trophy
By: Andrey | August 9th, 2007In the last warmup before facing Vojvodina for the UEFA Cup qualifiers, Atletico defeated Celta de Vigo in penalty kicks. The new offensive trident showed glimpses of what might become, once they have Forlan up top, and a more meshed duo behind them it should be more convincing. Also with Perea instead of Eller, the defense will have a better shape.
The lineup used…
—————————-Leo Franco (Abbiati, m.46)—————————-
Seitaridis (Vara, m.46)–Pablo (Regalón, m.70)–Eller–Pernía (Antonio López, m.46)
—————Raúl García (Costinha, m.46)–Maniche (Luccin, m.46)—————
—–Reyes (Jurado, m.46)——–Maxi——–Simao (Diego Costa, m.46)———-
——————————Mista (Braulio, m.46)——————————-
Among the highlights were Reyes and Pernia. The lows were Maxi and Maniche both missing penalty kicks.
Other team news
- After finally making his team debut Diego Costa looks to be going to Russia, more specifically Moscow though to what team is still unknown.
- Cleber Santana was off on vacation, so his team debut is still on hold.
- Mista and Costinha are rumored to be looking for new teams….good luck guys…especially Costinha, let’s hope that you’re just as good looking as being a pain in the ass.
- Maxi is going to back the Argentina National Team for the friendly against Norway, to be played in Oslo on the 22nd…let’s hope he plays it safe, it’s just a friendly no need to risk anything so early.
- Marca is reporting that Aguirre may want another midfielder if the results don’t go in his favor, let’s take that with a grain of salt since they already have 6 players there and may add another if the Javi Garcia deal goes through. This looks to be add more the Riquelme rumors, which nothing official has been announced.

Is that Vigo like as in the guy from Ghostbusters II? When did he get his own city?

Eh, I’m not crazy about the idea of Javi Garcia joining the club. I’d hate to have another Jurado in the squad. That said, let’s see what happens!

I haven’t given up in Jurado just yet he is still really young and the team doesn’t need much from him…plus if it’s to the team’s interest that he has another slow season that way Real won’t use their buy option and then if he blows up on his third season it’s for Atletico to enjoy it all…also, I have a thing for young internationals and would rather have him than an old good-for-nothing like Costinha

I hate Costinha. The sooner he leaves the better.
