De Gea is off to Manchester United
By: Al | May 24th, 2011
Another departure that we have been expecting for the past year. Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed in a press conference that our star goalkeeper is all set to join United, fee still undisclosed.
“We’ve been working on it for quite a while. We identified him quite a while back as one we should go for. He’s a young goalkeeper, very quick, good composure, presence, he’s an outstanding replacement to Edwin van der Sar.”
The negotiations have been going throughout the whole season, and every once in a while a random news outlet would “confirm” that the deal is done. De Gea then told the Atletico fans not to worry because he was going to stay, but United insistence may have made him change his mind.
All that I have to say is… good for him. We’ll have to make do with Asenjo, who is solid when he isn’t injured, and Joel has potential as well. The goalkeeper position isn’t one to worry about considering that Atletico has two decent replacements and will be pocketing a cool 20 mil from the sale. Manchester United is a massive club and when you are practically guaranteed a starting spot on it, it is hard to say no, especially when United has hosted some legendary keepers. De Gea is on his way to become one of their best.
Aguero and De Gea are now on their way out in the span of two days. Will a deal for Forlan be announced tomorrow? Stay tuned.

AL dude, this is getting really sad now.
i was so bummed when just Simao left and now it seems like almost everyone i love is leaving!!!
Forlan will definitely go, all depends on where? (maybe even this Al Wasl deal with Maradona but im sure he wouldnt want to go out on loan for year)
Sounds like Tiago is getting sent back to Juventus.
Aguero sounds like he’s most probably gona go to Real Madrid (im sure thats gona cause a lot of friction for a while)
who’s next?
sounds like they havent been so happy with Godin for a while?
Reyes might as well leave while they’re at it.like i said, im really sad now.

This isn’t great news for La Liga, 2 of your star players leaving. ( If Aguero goes to Real that sill doesn’t exactly help) any news if your going to be spending the 50+ mill you must be getting from these 2 on getting star players yourselfs?

I expected Aguero to leave, but De Gea is still young I expected him to stay for at least another 4 years and I am not sure if it is a good choice for Manchester to get such a young keeper(hopefully he flops and goes back for cheaper).
But on the other hand you do have 50M to spend with that kind of money you can buy a number of good players and strengthen the squad to a point where it will be stronger than now like Valencia(lets face it this squad is better than last year) but not as good because as a Valencia fan I want us to stay above you.

Claude – I agree man. On the positive side, we’re already bringing in two great defenders (Miranda and Silvio) and also Salvio is coming back from Benfica and he can cover as a forward. So with all the money we are pocketing, we can afford one or two solid strikers and midfielders. I’m more excited about the new coach we’ll be getting, though
Jafar – Valencia is a prime example of what I want Atletico to become. They used the sales from Villa and Silva to create a more effective team while still making a profit. Emery is also to thank because he’s a fantastic manager. What Atletico needs is a great manager and to make smart signings and they will be a better team than this season, which isn’t hard to do in the first place.
