Fran Merida to Atlético?
By: Greg | January 5th, 2010According to many random sources, Arsenal’s young Spanish midfielder Fran Merida is looking to sign a contract with Atlético Madrid that would bring him to the Vicente Calderón at the end of the season!

Merida has been toted as the next Cesc Fabregas, and if anyone has seen that guy lately, they know what kind of player he can become. As an Arsenal fan as well, I’ve seen Merida play a handful of games, and he has some great talent. I think that a move away from Arsenal is a good thing, as Arsenal have a few too many good midfielders in front of him. While it would sadden me to think of him leaving Arsenal, I’m glad he’s going to another club I support, and I definitely would love to see him score a few goals against Real Madrid. One like this.

This is all still a rumor, but I could realistically see it happen, so I feel it has more weight than other rumors. Keep an ear out.

I’m saddened by that, if the news in indeed true. If anything we (Arsenal), should send him out on loan if anything. But I think it’s a mistake to let a player with so much potential leave.

he is out of contract and has refused to sign a new development based contract. If he wants to go to At.M it is nothing Arsenal can do about that, and he is not yet good enough to be able to claim a superhuge contract with us, which is what he will get at At.Mad.

Recreativo…seems Sevilla was one step forward, and now we’re two steps back.
