Marseille Fans Want Us Dead, How Lovely!

The club received over 200 threats from Marseille fans, all threats against the supporters that want to travel to the Vélodrome. The e-mails, written in broken English, Spanish, and some in French, threatened to kill the same amount of Atlético supporters as the number of years that the imprisoned OM supporter Santos Mirasierra was given in jail after the ATM-OM match: 8.
Making matters worse, Atlético fans are not allowed tickets to see their team play during the rest of the group stage and instead of an empty Vicente Calderon, Atlético will be playing in a stadium of nothing-but angry and crazy Marseille fans in the Vélodrome.
Atlético fans will still travel to Marseille, right? The club doesn’t want them to go, and it would be a terrible idea to do so. Better idea to sit in your couch with a plate full of paella, methinks.
Of course, Atlético fans are so dedicated that many will still go anyway. Probably dressed as Marseille supporters, because showing up to the Vélodrome with an Atlético shirt on is like wearing a white power t-shirt in Harlem. You’re just asking for it.
Really now, is this match necessary? We’re into the round of 16 of the Champions League, but unfortunately we’re still stuck in the group stage. The only thing up for grabs now is the UEFA Cup (I mean, “Europa League”. My bad) spot for either PSV or Marseille. Considering both Liverpool and Atlético will be at about 75% strength and playing away, this still makes the final group match at least a bit interesting.

Translation:Les Marsellais wait for Atlético impatiently, we will kill all, you sons of bitches. Santos in prison for 8 years = 8 Atlético supporters dead. Come plenty, sons of bitches.

Translation:Hello

On a side note, even the note in spanish seems like a frenchman wrote it. and the last note might be from an atlético supporter? will be “our” day of death? dunno… and by the way, they are real, i read the story in the spanish press this morning.

I live here in Marseille and am a season ticket holder. The fans here as well as the team have been begging for the release of Santos ever since the game in Madrid. There have been banners in every language at the games here asking for his release.
I have a ticket to the game next week but hope that nothing bad happens. That would be a shame for the sport. I wish I knew what really happened for them to arrest this guy.

al, not to start anything but if my team’s supporters were chanting nazi chants and displaying racist behavior, i wouldn’t tell other clubs presidents and victims to shut the fuck up but would concede it was true and hope that racism was kicked out of my club.
Last season, while Florent sinama-Pongolle was behing courted by you guys, he was greeted with monkey chants as well, so don’t tell me some of your fans have displayed an outlandish behavior.Now everything I hope is that nothing happens to any of the Atletico fans that will be making the trip. At least I KNOW nobody from your camp willl get ambushed and kicked by the police.
