We Got Panathinaikos
By: Al | August 7th, 2009
It could have been much worse, and Celtic instead drew Arsenal and Anderlect drew Lyon, but Panathinaikos is no slouch of a team. Like I mentioned before, just have a look at their amazing performances last season in the Champions League.
If anybody saw any of their home games last season, you could see that their stadium is pretty much an inferno, and their supporters are asshats just like ours.
We’ll relish the challenge but it still sucks to see that teams such as Levski Sofia, FK Ventspils, and Sheriff Tiraspol probably have an easier path into the next round than us. Stupid Champions and Non-Champions paths!
They host the first leg on August 19 and we host the second on August 25.
Next game: Liverpool tomorrow at Anfield. Can’t wait.

Panathinaikos are the greek giants. This summer they bought Sisse (yes, Djibril!!!), Katsouranis from Benfica and Leto from Liverpool. Also they have Karagounis (their captain and their leader, remember the goal against Villarreal in first leg) and Gilberto Silva. Last year in Champions league they won Werder 0-3 and Inter 0-1 and they finish 1st in group stage, even above Inter. In the knock-out stage, they could have qualify over Villarreal, if the ref of the first leg was fair. He disallowed a normal goal of Karagounis and he gave to Villarreal a non-existed penalty.
