We’ve got Porto!
By: Greg | December 19th, 2008
The last 16 for the Champions League was drawn last night, and we were drawn with FC Porto. All I can say is “Thank God!”. Considering we could have been drawn with Roma, Juventus, and of course the current champions Manchester United, we got lucky getting Porto. Of course, who we could have been drawn with was very 50/50 on skill level, consider Porto, Bayern, and Panathinaikos were the weaker half of the six. With Atlético not being the strongest team in the CL right now, I think Porto is a good draw for us. Both teams are pretty evenly matched, with Atlético holding their own against Liverpool (and a terrible referee), and Porto beating Arsenal in their last competition of the group stages.
Here’s to a good match between FC Porto and Atlético. Tomorrow we play RCD Espanyol away at The Estadi OlÃmpic LluÃs Companys. I will write a preview before the game tomorrow, hopefully try to watch it, and then a review the following day.
Aupa Atleti!

I think you should take a closer look at Bayern’s players and performance before you consider them weaker then Juventus and Roma.
Its ignorant and inaccurate to judge a team by the league they play in.Posted from

RD, i don’t think greg was undermining Bayerns ability. I think he was just looking at it from his perspective, not to mention the perspective of probably many people. Juve, Roma, and ManU have been much tougher competitors in the CL this Season.

Drew with all due respect I think you are wrong about Bayerns performance in the CL this season.
They managed the highest total of points in group play (14), and this in a group many considered to be the toughest with Lyon, Fiorentina and Steaua.
I do agree with you however that many people did not see it my way mostly because of the media attention that Seria A, La Liga, and especially the premiership receive.Posted from
